Weathering steel plate is a low-alloy, high-strength steel produced by adding small amounts of alloying elements such as copper, chromium, nickel, and phosphorus to ordinary steel. While ordinary carbon steel rusts when exposed to water and oxygen, forming a loose, easily flaking rust layer, the rust layer on weathering steel is dense, robust, and stable, effectively preventing further oxidation of the underlying steel. Additionally, weathering steel requires no protective paint and can be used directly exposed to the air, making it both environmentally friendly and economical.
