Carbon: Carbon content directly affects the strength and hardness of steel. The higher the carbon content, the higher the strength and hardness of the steel. However, this can lead to a reduction in the toughness and weldability of the steel. The carbon content of A516 Gr 70 steel plate is usually 0.24% - 0.30%.
Manganese: Manganese increases the strength and toughness of steel and also improves the hot working properties of steel. In A516 Gr 70, the manganese content is generally 0.79% - 1.30%, the appropriate amount of manganese can enhance the mechanical properties of steel.
Silicon: Silicon can increase the strength and hardness of steel, improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of steel.The content of silicon in A516 Gr 70 is usually 0.13% - 0.45%. Silicon strengthens the properties of steel.
Phosphorus and Sulfur: Phosphorus and sulfur are harmful elements. Phosphorus reduces the toughness of steel and causes brittleness, especially at low temperatures. Sulfur will reduce the hot working performance and toughness of steel, so that the steel is easy to produce thermal cracks.
