Chemical Composition of A516Gr70
- Carbon (C): Generally required to be ≤0.30%. Carbon content affects the strength of steel plates; excessive content reduces their toughness and weldability.
- Silicon (Si): Typically ranges from 0.13% to 0.45%. This element enhances the strength and hardness of steel.
- Manganese (Mn): Typically ranges from 0.79% to 1.30%. This element improves the strength and toughness of steel and also serves to deoxidize and desulfurize, thereby enhancing steel quality.
- Phosphorus (P): Typically required to be ≤0.035%. Phosphorus is a harmful element; excessive levels increase the cold brittleness of steel plates and reduce plasticity and toughness.
- Sulfur (S): The requirement is ≤0.035%. Sulfur is also a harmful element, causing hot brittleness in steel and reducing the hot working performance and weldability of steel plates.
