Surfacing Wear-resistant Steel Plate

Surfacing Wear-resistant Steel Plate
Product Introduction:
Hardfacing wear-resistant steel plate, often referred to as high-chromium wear-resistant steel plate, is a high-performance composite steel plate that resists wear. Through surfacing technology, it blends the high chromium alloy layer with the low alloy steel base layer, preserving both the high strength and good plasticity of the low alloy steel and the superior wear resistance of the high chromium alloy. In industrial production, hardfacing wear-resistant steel plates are commonly utilized.

Products Description

Hardfaced wear-resistant steel plates adopt the open arc hardfacing process. A high-chromium and high-carbon alloy wear-resistant layer is deposited on the base plate of low-carbon steel or low-alloy steel, forming a composite wear-resistant plate with a carbide volume fraction of over 50%.

The product combines the good toughness of the base plate and the ultra-high hardness of the hardfaced layer, and is suitable for working conditions with high impact and severe abrasion.

Application Field

Application field

Steel, as one of the most important materials, is widely used in various fields. In the construction industry, steel is commonly used for structural purposes due to its strength and durability. Steel is also used in the automotive industry to make components such as engine parts, suspension systems, and chassis. Another application area is the manufacturing industry where steel is used for machinery and equipment. Additionally, steel is used in the energy sector for the production of oil and gas, as well as in renewable energy technologies such as wind turbines. The versatility and reliability of steel make it an indispensable material for modern society, and its use is expected to continue growing in the future.

FAQ

our teams.jpg

01.What is the hardness of the surfacing layer?

The surface hardness of surfacing wear-resistant steel plate typically ranges from HRC 55 to 68; common grades reach HRC 58–62 (high‑chromium type), and extra‑hard types can achieve HRC 63–68, while the base plate remains softer to ensure good toughness.

02.What are the thickness and standard dimensions?

The wear layer thickness is usually 3–20 mm (commonly 6–12 mm), and the base plate thickness is 4–20 mm, giving total combinations such as 6+4 mm or 10+8 mm. Standard plate sizes are often 1500×6000 mm or 2000×6000 mm, with custom sizes available.

03.How should it be cut and welded?

Cutting must be done by plasma or laser cutting – oxy‑fuel cutting is forbidden because it cracks the hardfacing layer. Welding is only allowed on the base plate side; the wear layer side should not be welded directly; if necessary, a transition layer or low‑hydrogen electrodes should be used.

04.How much does it improve wear life?

Compared to ordinary carbon steel, the wear life is typically 3 to 8 times longer, depending on the abrasive material, impact angle, and sliding speed. This can be verified by ASTM G65 dry sand abrasion testing.

05.What standards apply?

The main Chinese standard is GB/T 24179 (Technical conditions for hardfacing wear‑resistant steel plates); international references include DIN EN 14700 (hardfacing consumables) and ASTM G65 (abrasion testing).
