The chemical composition of S355J2 includes a carbon (C) content not exceeding 0.22%, a silicon (Si) content not exceeding 0.55%, a manganese (Mn) content not exceeding 1.60%, a phosphorus (P) content not exceeding 0.025%, and a sulfur (S) content not exceeding 0.025%. The yield strength varies depending on the thickness of the plate, usually ≥355 MPa under 16mm, ≥345 MPa between 16-40mm, ≥335 MPa between 40-63mm, and decreases with increasing plate thickness . The tensile strength is usually between 450 and 680 MPa .
