Products Description
ASTM A516 Gr 70 is a standard developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) to regulate the material properties and mechanical properties of Carbon Steel plates.
The ASTM A516 Gr 70 standard specifies the chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment requirements, hardness requirements, impact toughness requirements, flanging performance and other requirements of the A516 Gr 70 carbon steel plate.

1. Chemical composition requirements:
- Carbon content (C) : 0.27% Max
Manganese content (Mn) : 0.85-1.20%
- Phosphorus content (P) : 0.035% Max
- Sulfur content (S) : 0.035% Max
- Silicon content (Si) : 0.15-0.40%
- Copper content (Cu) : 0.35% Max
2. Mechanical performance requirements:
- Yield Strength: 38-70 ksi (1 ksi=1000 psi)
- Tensile Strength: 70-90 ksi
- Elongation (Elongation) : 17% minimum
3. Heat treatment requirements:
The A516 Gr 70 plate is required to be annealed when heated to 1650°F (900°C) and kept in the air during cooling.

4. Impact toughness requirements:
The impact toughness of the A516 Gr 70 steel plate meets the requirements of the standard.
5. Hardness requirements:
- The hardness of the A516 Gr 70 steel plate is required to be in the Brinell hardness (HB) range.
6. Flanging performance requirements:
The flanging performance of the A516 Gr 70 steel plate meets the requirements of the standard.
The ASTM A516 Gr 70 standard is applied to carbon steel plates for the manufacture of high temperature and high pressure vessels, boilers and other pressure vessels. This standard ensures that the chemical composition, mechanical properties and other properties of materials meet specific requirements to ensure safety and reliability in high temperature and high pressure environments.
