A516 GR 70: Primary elements are Carbon (C), Manganese (Mn), and Silicon (Si). Carbon (C) content ≤0.30%. Silicon (Si) content ranges from 0.13% to 0.45%, manganese (Mn) content ranges from 0.79% to 1.30%, phosphorus (P) content ≤0.035%, and sulfur (S) content ≤0.035%.
Mechanical Properties
P275: Yield strength approximately 275 MPa, tensile strength 370-510 MPa.
A516 GR 70: Yield strength ≥230 MPa, tensile strength 485-620 MPa.
Heat Treatment Methods
P275: Typically requires normalizing treatment to achieve a fine-grained microstructure, enhancing the steel's strength and toughness.
A516 GR 70: Plates ≤40mm thick are usually supplied in the as-rolled condition but may be ordered normalized, stress-relieved, or normalized and stress-relieved. Plates >40mm thick shall be normalized.
